Cruises were once thought of as an extremely expensive luxury that only the very wealthy could afford. However, this is no longer the cases as cruises have become much more affordable and as a result they are popular with people from all walks of life.

These holidays very in length quite significantly and a cruise could last a few days or as long as a month. Naturally, ships that are used for longer cruise will tend to be equipped with more entertainment and distractions to keep the passengers amused whilst they journey between destinations. A typical cruise holiday will involve the ship travelling overnight to different destinations where passengers can disembark during the day. For this reason cruises often tend to take place in locations where there are a number of stops in close proximity. For example, Mediterranean cruises are very popular as the give passengers the opportunity to visit several Mediterranean islands and costal towns.
